Meet the Fam: The Real Party Behind the Screens

Feral Gen alpha Quest log for morning routine-including cleaning poop

Welcome to the chaos!

Behind every gamer-mom-teacher hybrid is a household full of characters—and mine is no exception.

👧 The Teenager (14 Going on 25)

My daughter is a part-time JV cheerleader, part-time soccer player, and full-time diva.

She recently discovered Fortnite and boys—both of which she claims are the most stressful things in her life. (Must be nice.)

She is beautiful, smart when it suits her, and has the impressive ability to complain about literally everything.

But here’s the kicker—she is hilarious. Like, unintentionally stand-up-comedian funny.

Case in point- the time I came home from the gym and found her standing in her bedroom completely covered in shaving cream.

When I asked why, she simply said:

“I wanted to be Olaf.”

The snowman. From Frozen. Obviously.

Why is she like this? I have no idea.

I ask her and myself that question daily.

She doesn’t know either. We have yet to come up with a solid answer.

And yet, she is my absolute favorite and keeps me on my toes in the best (and most dramatic) way possible, even though she is not the password child.

👦 The Bonus Boy (Age 7, Full-Time Critic)

Next up is my 7-year-old bonus son. This child is 100% boy—if you know, you know.

He runs on curiosity, peanut butter sandwiches, and the urge to critique everything I do, especially my gaming.

He’s been familiar with Old School RuneScape since he was in diapers- thanks to that sexy nerd dad of his.

Me? I didn’t even know what RuneScape was until last year.- coincidentally, also thanks to that sexy nerd dad of his.

So, naturally, he believes he knows more than I do about it—and he’s not shy about telling me so.

He’s smart, inquisitive, quick witted, and somehow already thinks he’s the adult in the room.

Which is funny, considering he just learned to tie his shoes.

Even so, my favorite part of the day is curling up with him at bed time and reading stories to him, even though sometimes he critiques that too.

💁‍♀️ The Boyfriend (AKA the Gamer Who Started It All)

And of course, there’s my man—the one who introduced me to the world of gaming.

He is part genius, part tech wizard, and the sun that my world revolves around.

He lured me into RuneScape with those fateful words:

“Let’s make Group Ironman accounts. We can play together.”

I fell for it. Hard.

Now we have a gaming room with matching desks, a shared obsession with boss drops, and a mutual understanding that “one more raid” means I’ll see him in about three hours.

He’s my nerd, my best friend, and the reason I now say things like “grind XP” and “what’s your prayer level?” unironically.

👩‍🏫 Then There’s Me

Special education teacher. RuneScape noob turned late-night grinder. Mom. Girlfriend. Full-time plate spinner.

If you ever wondered what it looks like to juggle IEPs, teen hormones, loot tables, and laundry all in the same day—

Hi.

Nice to meet you.
