What am I doing when I’m not sitting in front of the computer?
Life360 usually clocks me at the gym, the grocery store, or chauffeuring children around town. Apparently, those are the only three places I go. I’ve got a love-hate relationship with the gym, and a hate-hate relationship with the grocery store. Do I look like I work out? No. Not even a little. But three to four days a week in the gym helps me burn just enough crazy to keep me out of jail.
Besides, abs are made in the kitchen… and well, we’ve already touched on the stress eating.
Other than that? I listen to a lot of audiobooks.
As a teacher, I fully understand the importance of reading for language and vocabulary development. As a mom? I just need something to drown out the constant noise in the house. Something that lets me say, “Oh, you asked for a snack? My bad. Didn’t hear you.” 🤷♀️
Why audiobooks, you ask?
Because I know someone out there is already saying, “Listening to audiobooks isn’t real reading.” I see you. I’ve seen the comment wars on BookTok. Yes, I can read. Yes, I like to read. But if I open a book, I will finish it in one sitting, while ignoring all adult responsibilities. I don’t just read. I hyperfocus.
Back when I collected physical books like they were bricks of gold, my family suffered. Apparently, parenting includes basic responsibilities — like feeding the children, making sure they move, providing clean clothes, and maintaining a home that’s at least fish tank clean. Reading didn’t mesh well with being a halfway decent adult.
The day I discovered audiobooks? Life-changing.
Multitasking. Unlocked.
🎧 Let’s Talk Narrators & Authors
My favorite author is Karin Slaughter, hands down. And Kathleen Early? A goddess-level narrator. The number of times I’ve re-listened to Will Trent books is borderline criminal. There are others I love too — Lee Child, J.R. Ward, Karen Marie Moning, David Baldacci — but lately, I’ve been in a bit of a slump.
I’ve DNF’d books like it’s my full-time job.
I’m in all the book groups. My TBR list is longer than a Grand Exchange trade queue… but I cannot find anything that grabs and holds my attention.
Until Lisa Unger. 🙌
This week alone I’ve finished:
Confessions was good-good. Not Will Trent–level, but solid. And she’s written a ton of books, which gives me hope. I’m currently halfway through The Red Hunter and enjoying it so far.
📚 Book Recs? Send Them.
Seriously. If you’ve got audiobook gold, drop it in my inbox or DMs. I’ll add it to the pile. At the rate I’m burning through DNFs, my list is starting to look a little… malnourished.
Like my stand? Go see GamertagStore on Etsy!
I read fantasy to escape. I lift heavy things to survive. If the book’s got dragons and the gym’s got mirrors, I’m good.

Definitely going to try some of the newest o ea you are reading. Look at Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan series. It’s one of my all time favorites.
